With the High Performance System, we’ve combined building science with the latest construction methods to create new homes that are more structurally sound, provide healthier indoor air and are more energy efficient than standard homes.

Why High Performance Building?

What is High Performance building? It’s our way of taking the guess work out of sustainable, healthy living by managing air, water and thermal performance, reducing construction time and waste and improving overall quality and livability.

We believe that building homes that are safe, healthy, durable, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing is simply the right thing to do. That’s why Lifestyle Homes has integrated High Performance building methods as a standard offering in every home that we build. High Performance construction incorporates building sciences into the construction of the home’s building envelope. This combination of construction technology and craftsmanship combine to create a home that is environmentally friendly and affordable to operate and maintain. Sounds like a great place to call home!

Air Ducts
Sealing your home from air infiltration. Our air barrier and weatherization system utilizes Tyvek Housewrap to correctly seal the floor and wall intersection from air and moisture infiltration.
The High Performance Lifestyle Home is designed and built to be airtight, drastically reducing the amount of dust, dirt, pollen, carbon monoxide, and pollution entering your home through its foundation and numerous other holes created in the typical construction process. If anyone in your family suffers from allergies, asthma or other respiratory problems, you know firsthand how the quality of the air that you breathe directly impacts quality of life.

This airtight building method has dual benefits. Did you know that 30% of a home’s heating bill is due to air leakage? Because, Lifestyle High Performance Homes are built to perform airtight, the amount of air that is wasted due to air leakage is dramatically reduced. Each home we build is designed with quality craftsmanship, advanced framing techniques and a superior thermal insulation system. The result is lower heating and cooling costs and consistent, comfortable room-to-room temperatures. Enjoy the peace of mind you’ll have knowing that your home is designed to reduce the waste of both money and energy.

Air Ducts
Fresh air duct for indoor air quality. A fresh air duct and exhaust fans are installed to deliver constant fresh filtered air throughout the house and at the same time remove the stale air.
Carbon Monoxide and other contaminants can also be reduced through the systematic design of your home. Did you know in most homes the air inside the home comes directly from your garage? Fumes from gasoline, fertilizers and other toxic items stored in your garage are transferred directly into the indoor air that your family breathes. In building the high performance home, we’ve taken extra measures to ensure that the contaminants in your garage are completely separated from your living space.

Are you concerned about mold and water intrusion? Many homes on the market today were built without enough attention paid to the details of the construction process, thus leaving homes unprotected against the many adverse affects of moisture. Rest assured, the careful engineering, detailed construction techniques, and meticulous quality control incorporated into the High Performance building method is designed to mitigate moisture. The building envelope of a Lifestyle Home is a total house system, ensuring that your family will continuously breathe fresh, filtered air.

Air Ducts
Open Web Floor Joist with plumbing and HVAC Moving the HVAC ductwork from the attic into conditioned airspace allows for a more efficient and cost effective HVAC system. The system no longer needs to compensate for attic temperatures, is able to use 10 times less heat flow and provides consistent room to
room temperature throughout the home.
A typical jobsite will accumulate approximately 3,000 lbs. of wasted lumber and siding—that’s about a 10 yard dumpster. Remarkably, the lumber waste on a Lifestyle High Performance Home jobsite will fit into one wheelbarrow and will then be recycled. Our homes are specially designed and engineered using NSC manufactured wall panels and components built in a controlled environment, eliminating weather related damage or delays as well as job site waste. The result is an extremely efficient use of natural resources. Less jobsite waste means you aren’t wasting your money on materials that end up in dumpsters and ultimately our landfills.

At Lifestyle Homes, every home that we build is tested to a strict quality control standard of tightness and efficiency. In addition, we perform blower door, duct blasting and thermal imaging tests to control quality and ensure the job is well done and the home is efficient, comfortable, affordable to operate, and durable enough to stand the test of time.
